Enfield footballers are victorious for the second year in a row

A team of Enfield footballers claimed victory at The Prostate Cancer Charity’s Real Man Cup football tournament on Saturday – for the second year in a row.Enfield Winners

More than 28 teams took part in the five-a-side tournament, which has raised more than £6,000 for the Charity in it’s annual Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. Former Tottenham Hotspurs defender, Graham Roberts, watched the teams battle it out and presented the Enfield team with their winning trophy.

Local boys, Roger Noveal, James Espirit, Daryl Diaska, Sean Hogan, Kevin Abbe and Dean Alveranga formed ‘The Liberties’ and made it all the way to the final where they beat runners up, ‘BHF’ in a tense showdown match.

The Liberties team captain, Roger Noveal, 40, said: “We had some really stiff competition today but we battled hard and in the end our skills really shone through. We all love playing football and The Real Man Cup is a great event, where not only do you get to take part in a top tournament but you also get to raise some funds for The Prostate Cancer Charity. For the second year in a row, we showed that we don’t take any ‘liberties’ and we are already looking forward to next years event to see if anyone can knock us off the top spot.”

Spurs legend, Graham Roberts, said: “It has been an excellent day of football with each team really getting in to the spirit of The Real Man Cup. There were some brilliant football skills on display and a strong sense of sportsmanship between the teams. I can’t think of anything better to do on a Saturday than getting together with the boys for a kick-a-bout with a difference. The fact that the tournament is raising funds  for The Prostate Cancer Charity makes it all the better.”Real Man Cup
